News from April 3.

The NBA named as Carmelo Anthony (Den) and LeBron James (Cle) as Players
of the Month for March.  Anthony averaged 29.9 points as Denver went 11-5.  
James averaged 32.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.6 assists as Cleveland
went 10-4.

The NBA named as Gregg Popovich (SA) and Lawrence Frank (NJ) as Coaches of
the Month for March.  San Antonio went 12-4 and New Jersey went 12-3.

The NBA named as Chris Paul (NO) and Raymond Felton (Cha) as Rookies of
the Month for March.  Paul averaged 15 points and 7.8 assists as New 
Orleans went 3-11.  Felton averaged 17 points and 6.6 assists as Charlotte
went 5-10.

The NBA named as Yao Ming (Hou) and LeBron James (Cle) as Players of the
Week.  Yao averaged 33.3 points including 62.5% FG and 12.3 rebounds as 
Houston went 2-1.  James averaged 42.7 points including 62.5% FG, 9.7 
rebounds, and 7.3 assists as Cleveland went 3-0.

The NBA suspended Rasheed Wallace (Det) for 1 game for picking up his 16th
technical foul of the season during Sunday's Pho-Det game.  The 16th,
18th, 20th, ... technical a player receives during the regular season
results in an automatic suspension.

Toronto released James Lang.

The Basketball Hall of Fame announced the inductees for the class of 2006.
They are:

   Charles Barkley  played 16 seasons in NBA with Philadelphia, Phoenix, 
                    Houston, 1993 NBA MVP, 23,757 career points, 12,546
                    career rebounds
   Joe Dumars       played 14 seasons with the Detroit Pistons, won NBA
                    championship in 1989 and 1990
   Dominique Wilkins  played 14 season in NBA, 11 with the Atlanta Hawks, 
                    led league in scoring in 85-86 with 30.3 points

   Geno Auriemma    20 years as coach of UConn women's team, 557-111 
                    record, won NCAA championship 5 times
   Sandro Gamba     Italian national coach 1979-1985, coached Olympic 
                    team 4 times
