TRADE: In a sign-and-trade, Washington re-signed Kwame Brown to a 3 year, $25 million contract with a team option for the 3rd year and re-signed Laron Profit to a 1 year contract and then traded them to the LA Lakers for Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins. Atlanta signed restricted free agent Zaza Pachulia to a 4 year, $16 million offer sheet. Milwaukee has 7 days to match the offer. The LA Clippers signed Cuttino Mobley to a 5 year, $42 million contract. The LA Clippers renounced their rights to Kerry Kittles and Rick Brunson. The LA Lakers signed Smush Parker to a 1 year, partially guaranteed contract. New Orleans re-signed Chris Andersen. Orlando signed Keyon Dooling to a 3 year, $10 million contract. Phoenix signed Raja Bell to a 5 year, $24 million contract. Portland elected not to pick up their 05-06 option for Nick Van Exel and released him. Portland released Derek Anderson. Portland became the first team to use the new amnesty clause on a player. Though Portland will still have to pay the rest of Anderson's contract, his salary amount will not count towards the luxury tax.
