News from March 1.

The NBA named Dirk Nowitzki (Dal) and Chauncey Billups (Det) as Players of
the Month for February.  Nowitzki averaged 27.1 points and 9.7 rebounds as
Dallas went 10-0.  Billups averaged 17.9 points and 7.5 assists as Detroit
went 10-1.

The NBA named Avery Johnson (Dal) and Flip Saunders (Det) as Coaches of
the Month for February.  Dallas went 10-0 and Detroit went 10-1.

The NBA named Brandon Roy (Por) and Andrea Bargnani (Tor) as Rookies of
the Month for February.  Roy averaged 15.6 points and 4 rebounds as
Portland went 4-7.  Bargnani averaged 11.1 points and 3.7 rebounds as
Toronto went 9-3.

The LA Lakers fined Vladimir Radmanovic $500,000 for violating his 
contract by snowboarding.  Radmanovic suffered a separated shoulder while 
snowboarding during the All-Star break.

Portland president and GM Steve Patterson resigned.  Tod Leiweke was named
interim president and GM.

Rodney Carney (Phi) has a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

Earl Boykins (Mil) is expected to be out 3 weeks with torn ligaments in
his right thumb.

Joel Przybilla (Por) is expected to miss the rest of the season after
unergoing scheduled arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

Sacramento released Jason Hart.

New Orleans assigned Marcus Vinicius to the NBADL.

Dallas activated Greg Buckner.

Cleveland activated Shannon Brown and placed Scot Pollard on IL.

The LA Clippers activated Paul Davis and placed Sam Cassell on IL with 
an injured groin.
