News from March 5.

The NBA named Kevin Martin (Sac) and Al Jefferson (Bos) as Players of the
Week.  Martin averaged 28 points and 5 rebounds as Sacramento went 3-1.
Jefferson averaged 23.5 points and 14.5 rebounds as Boston went 4-0.

Ron Artest (Sac) has been excused indefinitely (but not suspended) from
the team after his arrest of suspicion of domestic violence.

Dwyane Wade (Mia) has elected not to undergo surgery on his dislocated
left shoulder.  He will rehabilitate his shoulder and will be unable to
resume playing until some time in April.

The LA Clippers signed Jason Hart to a 10-day contract.  The Clippers
elected not to sign Will Conroy to a 2nd 10-day contract.

Houston activated Yao Ming and placed Steve Novak on IL.

Cleveland activated Shannon Brown and placed Damon Jones on IL.  Brown was
recalled from the NBADL.

Golden State activated Baron Davis and placed Patrick O'Bryant on IL.

Atlanta activated Esteban Batista and placed Speedy Claxton on IL.
