News from January 5.

The NBA named Al Jefferson (Min) and Rodney Stuckey (Det) as Players of
the Week.  Jefferson averaged 27.3 points and 12.3 rebounds as Minnesota
went 3-1.  Stuckey averaged 23 points and 5.3 assists as Detroit went 4-0.

TRADE: Denver traded Cheikh Samb and cash to the LA Clippers for a
conditional 2nd round draft pick.

Golden State signed Jermareo Davidson to a 10-day contract and released
DeMarcus Nelson.

The LA Clippers released Paul Davis and Fred Jones.

Carmelo Anthony (Den) suffered a fractured bone in his right hand and is
expected to be out 3 weeks.

D.J. White (OKC) underwent a 2nd surgery to remove a benign growth from
his jaw.

Golden State activated Corey Maggette and Brandan Wright and placed
Kelenna Azubuike and Marcus Williams on IL.

Milwaukee activated Damon Jones and placed Austin Croshere on IL.

Sacramento activated Quincy Douby and placed Shelden Williams on IL.

New Jersey activated Devin Harris and placed Maurice Ager on IL.
