News from October 1.

The NBA raised fines for technical fouls to $2,000 for the first 5
technical fouls for a player or coach, $3,000 for the next 5 technical
fouls, and $4,000 for technical fouls #11-15.  For technical fouls #16 and
beyond, a player will be fined $5,000 for each technical and suspended for
1 game for every other technical.

Boston released Jamar Smith and Chris Johnson.

Orlando exercised their 11-12 option for Ryan Anderson.
