From the Dallas Morning News and the Denver Post. 2/17 Sacramento traded Duane Causwell (C) and 2nd round picks in '94, '95, '96 to Detroit for Olden Polynice (C) and David Wood (F); but ... [see 2/20] 2/18 David Robinson (SA) had the NBA's first quadruple double in almost 4 years with 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks in San Antonio's victory over Detroit. 2/18 What public statement cost Ron Harper $48,780? "I'm just doing my jail time. In about 65 or 70 more days, my time is up, and I'll be out on G.B., good behavior." The Clippers suspended Harper for one game for the statement. Harper becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. 2/20 Trade cancelled: Duane Causwell failed his physical (existing stress fracture in left foot) and Detroit cancelled the trade. So, Causwell remains in Sacramento and Olden Polynice and David Wood remain in Detroit. BUT, another trade occurred. Detroit traded Olden Polynice (C) to Sacramento (again) for Pete Chilcutt (C), the lowest (worst) of the 2nd round picks that Sacramento owns the rights to, and a conditional 1st round pick - Detroit gets it if it is above the 20th pick in '94, '95, or '96, or the first pick that is above the 15th pick after '96. [Follow that?] 2/20 Shawn Bradley (Phi) is out for the season with a dislocated kneecap and a slight bonechip in his left knee. The injury occurred in Friday's game against Por when Bradley and Harvey Grant collided. Bradley had surgery the 22nd to remove the bonechip. 2/20 Kenny Walker's (Was) cheekbone was shattered in eight pieces after a collision with Joe Dumars (Det). Dumars called the Bullet's office the next day to get word to Walker that he was sorry. BTW, Walker was called for a foul. 2/20 Phoenix president Jerry Colangelo said that Richard Dumas has not adhered to the provisions of his aftercare program and that he does not foresee Dumas returning this season. Dumas was suspended by the league with his first strike in the league's anti-drug program in September, only a few weeks after signing a 5 year $9.5 million contract, for refusing to report to a rehab center. A team is required to pay a player who is out of the league on his first strike. Colangelo said that Dumas has not been paid due to him being not in compliance. 2/20 Danny Schayes (Mil) when asked how he was doing: "I don't get to play. The team stinks. My wife lives in Denver, and it's been 20-below most of the winter." 2/22 Dallas was mathematically eliminated from the Midwest Division title chase when San Antonio defeated Minnesota, despite the fact that Dallas beat Detroit the same day.
