7/22 LA Lakers signed their 1st round draft pick Eddie Jones
to a rumoredly $13.65 million, 6 year deal.

7/22 Detroit named Billy McKinney VP of basketball operations.

7/24 Regarding the hand checking backlash, ref Darrell 
Garretson had this to say about Derek Harper: "Derek Harper's
name always comes up.  I don't see Derek Harper playing 
defense any differently now than he ever did.

7/24 Portland has offered unrestricted free agent Chris 
Dudley a 6 year, $18 million contract.  Dudley and his agent
are looking around for a better offer.

7/27 LA Clippers are not paying fired coach Bob Weiss.  Weiss
is scheduled to receive $1.2 million over the next 2 season.  
The Clippers would not directly comment on the matter, but 
spokesman Joe Safety indirectly confirmed the matter calling
it "an internal personnel matter".  David Stern has been asked
to resolve the dispute.

7/30 As expected, Chuck Person signed a multi year contract 
with San Antonio.  No official numbers were given, but it is
believed to start at $1.1 million for the first year.

8/2 Portland named Johnny Davis as an assistant coach.

8/5 Portland named Rick Carlisle as an assistant coach and
Mark Warkentien as scout.

Dominque Wilkins is being razzed by his fellow Dream Team IIers.

The Chicago Bulls have commissioned a 12 foot tall bronze
statue on a 5 foot granite base of Michael Jordan to be placed
in front of the new United Center.  The statue will be unveiled
on November 1.  That is also the date that the team will retire
Jordan's #23.
