Phoenix fired head coach Paul Westphal and named vice president and former
head coach Cotton Fitzsimmons as the new coach.

The NBA named David Robinson (SA) as player of the week.  Robinson averaged
22.5 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3.75 blocks as San Antonio went
4-0.

Atlanta signed Ronnie Grandison to a 10-day contract.

The NBA announced the participants invited for the Shick Rookie Game to
take place February 10 in San Antonio.  The West team will consist of Joe
Smith (GS), Antonio McDyess (Den), Kevin Garnett (Min), Brent Barry (LAC),
Tyus Edney (Sac), Michael Finley (Pho), Arvydas Sabonis (Por), and Bryant
Reeves (Van).  The East team will consist of Jerry Stackhouse (Phi), Damon 
Stoudamire (Tor), Bob Sura (Cle), Alan Henderson (Atl), Kurt Thomas (Mia), 
Eric Williams (Bos), Rasheed Wallace (Was), and George Zidek (Cha).  The
players were selected by a panel of media members and the game will
consist of 2 15 minutes halves.  Bob Lanier will coach the East and Doug
Moe will coach the West.
