Sacramento activated Michael Smith and placed Byron Houston on IR with back spasms. New Jersey activated Rick Mahorn and placed Khalid Reeves on IR with a sprained ankle. Utah released Andy Toolson, who was signed to a 10-day contract, so that he could join AEK-Athens in Greece. The mens USA Olympic basketball team (aka Dream Team III) will train in Chicago at the Solheim Center July 1-5 and in Phoenix July 8 and 9. The team will play 5 exhibition games: July 6 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan against "a USA basketball select team"; July 7 at Gund Arena in Cleveland with the opposition yet to be determined; July 10 at America West Arena in Phoenix against the Chinese Olympic team; July 12 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City against the Australian Olympic team, and July 14 at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis against the Greek Olympic team. The games in Michigan, Cleveland, and Indianapolis will be televised on NBC. The games in Phoenix and Salt Lake City will be televised on TNT.
