News from June 28.

No Lockout!  The NBA and the Players Association finalized the new
collective bargaining agreement and, thus, adverted a potential lockout.
An eight day moratorium on trades and player signings will start July 1
while the players vote on the new CBA.  The CBA is expected to be ratified
without a problem.  The free agent market now opens July 9.

TRADE: Seattle traded the rights to Ron Riley (47th draft pick) to Detroit
for a 1997 2nd round draft pick.

Portland decided not to exercise their option year for Buck Williams.

Atlanta decided not to exercise their option year for Craig Ehlo.
[Portland and Atlanta can re-sign those players to a smaller contract,
though.]

Portland exercised their option year for Clifford Robinson.

Portland exercised their option year for James Robinson.  It is rumored
that Robinson will be part of a future trade.

Boston released Thomas Hamilton.

Milwaukee fired assistant coaches Frank Hamblen, Jim Eyen, and Butch
Carter.

Dontae' Jones (NY, #21 draft pick) underwent successful surgery on his
left foot to replace a broken screw.  His foot will be in a cast for 6
weeks and he will be out for 3 to 6 months.

The LA Clippers exercised their option year for Charles Outlaw.

Houston signed Emanual Davis (G).
