An eight day moratorium on trades and player signings will start July 1 while the players vote on the new CBA. The CBA is expected to be ratified without a problem. The free agent market now opens July 9. TRADE: Seattle traded the rights to Ron Riley (47th draft pick) to Detroit for a 1997 2nd round draft pick. Portland decided not to exercise their option year for Buck Williams. Atlanta decided not to exercise their option year for Craig Ehlo. [Portland and Atlanta can re-sign those players to a smaller contract, though.] Portland exercised their option year for Clifford Robinson. Portland exercised their option year for James Robinson.
