News from September 13. The NBA player representatives voted 25-2 in favor of the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement. Boston and Sacramento were the two voting against. The NBA has sent copies of the complete terms of the CBA to the team owners and have asked them to fax in their vote by 1 pm (ET?) on Friday. Since the vote is not in person, 22 of the 29 owners must vote for the proposed CBA to ratify it. If the NBA does not get the needed votes, there will be a Board of Governors meeting in New York on Monday and only a simple majority (15 owners) is needed to ratify the agreement. More labor woes? Now that the players CBA is just about finalized, the NBA has to take care of the another union whose contract expired at the end of last season - the refs. Negotitaions for a new contract with the officails were put on hold while the NBA and the players worked on a settlement.
