TRADE: Vancouver traded Roy Rogers to Boston for Tony Massenburg and a 2nd
round draft pick.

TRADE: Houston traded Sam Mack to Vancouver for a 2nd round draft pick.

The NBA fined Lawrence Funderburke (Sac) $2,500 and suspended him for 1
game for leaving the bench during a scuffle in Friday's Sac-Ind game.

The NBA named Dee Kantner, Violet Palmer, Rashan Michel, Rodney Mott and
Derek Richardson as new refs for the 1997-98 season.  Kantner and Palmer
become the first female refs.

Shaquille O'Neal (LAL) will not play in Friday's season opener vs Utah due
to an abdominal strain.
