News from May 1.
 
The NBA fined Alonzo Mourning (Mia) $20,000 and suspended him for 2 games
and fined Larry Johnson (NY) $10,000 and suspended him for 2 games for
their fight at the end of Thursday's NY-Mia game.  Both will miss game 5
of the series and one will miss the game 1 of the second round and the
other will miss the first game of the 98-99 season.  Chris Mills (NY) was 
also fined $2,500 and suspended for 1 game (game 5) for leaving the bench 
during the altercation.
 
Chris Herren (junior, G, Fresno State) declared himself eligible for the 
NBA draft.


Cha 91, Atl 82 - at Atl
Glen Rice (Cha) had 26 points and 5 rebounds.
Anthony Mason (Cha) had 29 points including 13-18 FG and 14 rebounds.
Vlade Divac (Cha) had 11 points and 8 rebounds.
David Wesley (Cha) had 13 points, 10 assists, and 5 steals.
Dikembe Mutombo (Atl) had 8 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Steve Smith (Atl) had 27 points including 11-18 FG.
Mookie Blaylock (Atl) had 17 points including 6-18 FG and 3 steals.
Matt Geiger (Cha, pulled right hamstring) did not play.
Charlotte takes the series 3-1 and will face Chicago in the second round.

Uta 93, Hou 71 - at Hou
Karl Malone (Uta) had 29 points and 13 rebounds.
John Stockton (Uta) had 14 points and 7 assists.
Bryon Russell (Uta) had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Shandon Anderson (Uta) had 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Hakeem Olajuwon (Hou) had 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Clyde Drexler (Hou) had 11 points including 2-11 FG, 5 rebounds, and 5
assists.
Uta shot 47.9% (34-71) FG and Hou shot 32.5% (26-80) FG.
Charles Barkley (Hou) suffered a bruised right triceps in the 2nd quarter
and barely played in the second half and is doubtful for game 5.
The series is tied 2-2.
