Chicago re-signed assistant coach Tex Winter.

Greg Anderson (free agent who played with Atlanta last season) pleaded
guilty on Tuesday to one count of federal drug trafficking.  He had been
charged in June with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and
will be sentenced in February.

On the labor front:
The public posturing continued as the Players Association held an
all-member meeting in Las Vegas and held a press conference in the evening
with 30 of the biggest names present and stated that they would in no
way, shape, or form accept a "hard cap".  About 240 players attended the
meeting.  Player Association executive director Billy Hunter said that he 
would like to have all the players and owners to attended the "next" 
negotiating session - possibly Tuesday or Wednesday in New York when the 
owners have their Board of Governors meeting scheduled where they are 
expected to cancel more games.  Of course, the press conference occurred 
before Hunter had contacted NBA commissioner David Stern to get his 
response or to schedule the next negotiating session.  Thus, the next 
negotiating session is still not scheduled.
