Alonzo Mourning (Mia) underwent surgery on his right knee to remove a bone
spur.  He is expected to be out until around December 25.

The scheduled opening day for the 1998-99 season came and went without a
sound.  The labor negotiations between the Players Association and the NBA
are still inexplicably going very slow.  The two sides meet last Wednesday
and are scheduled to meet again today (Wednesday), with only phone calls
having occurred in between.  Both sides claim that they are still far
apart.
