News from December 8.

Due to the labor conflict, the NBA has canceled the All-Star game that was
scheduled for February 14 in Philadelphia.  The NBA and the Players
Association last met December 3 and do not have another meeting scheduled
yet.  If an agreement between the two sides is not made by probably the
end of December, if not earlier (the NBA refuses to set a "drop dead"
date), the entire 98-99 season will likely be cancelled.
