News from April 1.

The NBA named Tim Duncan (SA) as Player of the Month.  Duncan averaged
23.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks as San Antonio went 14-2.

The NBA named Mike Dunleavy (Por) as Coach of the Month.  Portland went
15-3 in March.

The NBA named Vince Carter (Tor) as Rookie of the Month.  Carter averaged
18.4 points and 6.0 rebounds as Toronto went 11-6 in March.

The NBA fined Jalen Rose (Ind) $5,000 and suspended him for one game for
throwing a forearm at Patrick Ewing (NY) and fined Ewing $2,500 for his
actions in the altercation.  The forearm hit ref Dick Bavetta in the nose
and broke his nose.

Denver placed Keon Clark on IR with a collapsed lung.

Miami activated Jamal Mashburn and placed Terry Mills on IR with strength
deficit in his left leg.

New Jersey signed Jamie Feick to a 2nd 10-day contract. 

Washington placed Tracy Murray on IR with a sprained right big toe and
activated Randell Jackson.

Jayson Williams (NJ) broke his right leg during last night's NJ-Atl game
and will miss the rest of the season.

Christian Laettner (Det) suffered a fractured rib during last night's
Det-Chi game and will be out 2 weeks.
