News from June 10.

The NBA fined Dallas and Sacramento $25,000 each for salary cap 
violations.  Dallas gave free agent to be Gary Trent and 5 members of 
his family an all-expense paid trip to Maui as what coach/GM Don Nelson 
openly called a recruiting trip.  Sacramento gave 10 players an 
all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas for a party to celebrate their 
season.

The Basketball Hall of Fame announced the 1999 nominees for election
to the Hall.  They are:
  Maurice Cheeks   played 15 seasons in the NBA, with the Philadelphia
                   76ers 78-79 - 88-89
  Dennis Johnson   played with the Seattle Sonics 76-77 - 79-80, the 
                   Phoenix Suns 80-81 - 82-83, the Boston Celtics 83-84 - 
                   89-90
  Gus Johnson      played with the NBA Baltimore Bullets 63-64 - 71-72,
                   the Phoenix Suns 72-73, the ABA Indiana Pacers 72-73
  Bob McAdoo       played 14 seasons in the NBA, with the Buffalo Braves
                   72-73 - 76-77, with the LA Lakers 81-82 - 84-85
  Kevin McHale     played with the Boston Celtics 80-81 - 91-92
  Sidney Moncrief  played with the Milwaukee Bucks 79-80 - 88-89 and the
                   Atlanta Hawks 90-91
  Chet Walker      played with the Syracuse Nationals 62-63, the
                   Philadelphia 76ers 63-64 - 68-69, and the Chicago Bulls
                   69-70 - 72-73
  Jo Jo White      played 12 seasons in the NBA, with the Boston Celtics
                   69-70 - 78-79
  Jim Phelan       coached Mount St. Mary's for 45 seasons
  John Thompson    26 seasons as Georgetown University coach, won 1984
                   NCAA championship
  Morgan Wooten    DeMatha (Washington, D.C.) High School head coach
                   for 43 seasons.
  Tex Winters      52 seasons as NBA and college coach
  Wayne Embry      1st black NBA GM, GM for the Milwaukee Bucks 71-79,
  (nominated as an contributor)    GM for the Cleveland Cavaliers 86-94,
                   team president for the Cleveland Cavaliers 94-present

Additional nominees will be made from the Women's, Veteran's, and
International committees.  A nominee needs at least 18 of 24 votes from
the Honors Committee to be inducted.  The announcement for the new
inductees will occur later in June and the enshrinement ceremonies will
occur October 1.
