News from June 14 Orlando released Dominique Wilkins. The Veteran's Committee submitted Grady Lewis and Fred Zollner for nomination for induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Lewis is credited with creating the basketball shoe. Zollner was one of the founders of the NBA (he helped in the merger of the NBL and BAA) and was the founder and former owner (1941-1974) of the Fort Wayne/Detroit Pistons. The Hall of Fame nominees must receive 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee to be inducted. The announcement for the new inductees will occur later in June.
