Due to the lockout, the NBA has postponed indefinitely the referee 
training camp that was scheduled to start September 25 and the rookie 
transition programs that were scheduled for September 20 through 23.
 
Detroit and Gar Heard have reached an agreement on a 2 year contract for
Heard to become an assistant coach.  The official announcement of his 
hiring is expected to come next week.  Heard has been an assistant coach
for Larry Brown for the past 5 seasons - both with Philadelphia and 
Indiana.
