The memorial service for Bobby Phills (Cha) has been scheduled for Friday
in Charlotte and the funeral service has been scheduled for Sunday in
Baton Rouge.  Friday's New York at Charlotte game has been postponed.
Charlotte is currently scheduled to play Saturday in New York.

Charlotte announced that they will retire Bobby Phills' #13 February 9
when Cleveland is in town.  Cleveland was Phills' first NBA team.
 
The NBA announced that Bill Russell will coach the 1998 Rookie team and
K.C. Jones will be the assistant and that Al Attles will coach the 1999 
Rookie team and Nate Thurmond will be the assistant for the Rookie game.
 
Houston activated Hakeem Olajuwon, signed Bill Curley to a 10-day
contract, placed Kelvin Cato on IR with a sprained right wrist, and 
released Thomas Hamilton.

Toronto signed Antonio Lang to a 10-day contract.
