News from October 26.

The NBA fined Anfernee Hardaway (Pho) $5,000 and suspended him for 1 game
(Tuesday's season opener) for throwing a punch at Rex Walters (Mia) during
Friday's Pho-Mia game.  The NBA fined Walters $2,000 for confronting
Hardaway in the dressing room after the two were ejected.  The NBA fined
Rex Chapman (Pho) $2,000 and suspended him for 1 game (Tuesday's season
opener) for leaving the bench area during the Hardaway-Walters
altercation.

Dallas signed Ira Bowman and released Charles Shackleford.

Matt Geiger will undergo knee surgery and is expected to be out 4 to 6
weeks.

New York released Ivano Newbill and Antonio Smith.

Vancouver signed Robert Werdann.
