TRADE: Atlanta traded Steve Smith and Ed Gray to Portland for Isaiah Rider
and Jim Jackson.

Toronto renounced their rights to Charles Oakley and Micheal Williams.
[Note: renouncing the rights to a player does not mean that the team can
not re-sign him; it means that the team looses their Bird rights
(re-signing without regard to the salary cap) or build up of years toward
the Bird rights for that player - there is no longer a time restriction
for a team to sign a player they renounced.]

Detroit signed Michael Curry to a 5 year, $12 million contract.

Minnesota signed first round draft pick Wally Szczerbiak (#6) to a 3 year,
$5.28 million contract with a 4th year worth $2.3 million at the team's
option.

Detroit re-signed Jud Buechler to a 1 year, $1.1 million contract with a 
2nd year at Buechler's option.

Portland re-signed Jermaine O'Neal to a 4 year, $25 million contract.

Portland signed Detlef Schrempf to a 2 year, $4.2 million contract.

Cleveland named Bob Ociepka as an assistant coach.

Seattle renounced their rights to Olden Polynice, Drew Barry, John Crotty,
and Aaron Williams.

Seattle re-signed Jelani McCoy to a 2 year contract.
