Cali. Rolls (Sushi)
My favorite food to eat is California Rolls. Cali. rolls is a kind of maki (another kind of sushi). Sushi is an ancient japanese food that originated in Osaka, Japan. In Japan sushi is a very loved food and it is cherished. Some people claim that sushi really originated in China, but this is a lie. There are many different kinds of sushi. Some types include, Spicy tuna rolls, vegetable rolls, maki, etc. My favorite kind is Cali. Rolls.

California rolls are composed of cooked crab meat, sushi rice (sticky rice with minimal oil), seaweed, caviar or sesame seeds, avocado, and cucumber. To make Cali. rolls you need to have a bamboo mat, the ingrediants, and a spoon for measuring. The first step is to lay out the seaweed across the bamboo mat. Next you need to fill the all of the seaweed with a thin layer of rice. The next step is to gently flip over your seaweed and cover the other side with a thin layer of rice. After you have your rice layed down you need to add your middle or inside. Add everything you want in the center of the seaweed and bunch it together. To start rolling your sushi, take the bamboo mat and roll it into a long roll. Then with a knife, gently cut it into round slice. Then your ready to eat.
Some people sterotype sushi by saying its all raw and it gives you diseases. Sushi comes in many different styles. It comes from raw to 100% cooked. Some people like eel, salmon, shrimp and other kind of marine life in their sushi. 99% of the time these fish are raw. Personally I don't like the raw type sushi. Some cooked or non-fish sushi's include: California rolls, carrot, cucumber, avocado sushi, cooked crab sushi etc. There are also types of sushi that don't include veggies or seaweed at all. Smoked salmon sushi is just a big chunk of salmon with rice ontop of it. Sometimes a small strip of seaweed is used to hold them together but some sticky oils are also used to stick them together.
I have some cool moments with sushi. The first time I ate sushi was when I was 5. I was with my uncle, my cousins and my brother and we went to a japanese restaurant. My uncle ordered these round, things with rice. I looked at the food perplexed, thinking what the heck is this. I tried some and I loved it so much. It was light and it had such a good flavor. Another time I remeber was when I first made sushi with my friend. We got all the ingerdiants and everything and we started rolling it. My sushi looked very retarted but it tasted good. I ended up eating it and it is now my favorite food.
