I think the most unaddressed social pattern is not being wrong. It's survivor
bias. The whole function of regimes like Trump's is to kill or effectively
silence all dissent, so that those remaining have an established sense of
success being on the side of the perpetrator. Unless we can fix this, we
continue to live in peril. After all, we live in a world which is minimally
10 times as populated as the level of sustainable human denizens, and given
human tastes, it may be as much as 100 times. That is hard to address when the
solution means elimination of 90% to 99% of us. I want a humane world, but we
also need a world with self-awareness of its effects on its environment. When
I walk outside and cross the street, over 95% of those I see are not on foot,
but rolling along in their personal exoskeletons, probably from locations that
require that automation to procure resources or reach labor duties. This
infrastructure situation dictates our terminal behavior. How can we make that
humorous? How can we lambast it? How can anything but tragedy convey to the
average person what they are part of?

  15. River Man
Betty came by on her way
Said she had a word to say
    About things today
    And fallen leaves

Said she hadn’t heard the news
Hadn’t had the time to choose
    A way to lose
    But she believes

    Gonna see the river man
Gonna tell him all I can
    About the plan
    For lilac time

If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
    And all night shows
    In summertime

    Betty said she prayed today
For the sky to blow away
    Or maybe stay
    She wasn’t sure

For when she thought of summer rain
    Calling for her mind again
    She lost the pain
    And stayed for more

Gonna to see the river man
Gonna to tell him all I can
    About the ban
    On feeling free

If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
    I don’t suppose
    It’s meant for me

Oh, how they come and go

  16. Main Ingredients of Fire Retardant dropped by airplanes on wildfires:

Water: Makes up the vast majority of the liquid weight to help immediately cool the target area.

Ammonium Phosphate / Sulfate: The active fertilizer salts that alter how wood and brush burn, promoting charring and preventing combustion even after the water evaporates.

Thickeners: Gelling agents (similar to food gums) that make the mixture gooey so it clings to trees and steep slopes instead of running straight off.

Colorant: Iron oxide or fugitive red dye used so pilots and ground crews can easily see which areas have already been treated.Corrosion

Inhibitors: Chemical additives that keep the slurry from eating away at the metal tanks inside firefighting aircraft.
