This is an early draft letter addressing traffic problems along Tukwila International Boulevard (most specifically near 140th Street South, but with realization that the problems extend beyond this), with listing of ways to address these. It is realized any kind of traffic management can be expensive. It may not be that much of an exaggeration that, despite speed limiting and some traffic lights, TIB (Tukwila International Boulevard) is almost like a Freeway with Intersections. My family also used to live up near Aurora Avenue North, and it must be recognized that that route, and others have problems similar to TIB. Clearly my neighborhood cannot fairly ask for mitigation that, if applied to another hundred locations with similar problems across the county, petition for solutions with very expensive price tags without illustration that at least that much money will somehow be saved by the solution. However, any solution which is really radical will tend to have more public reaction. Those who drive now, many of them will prefer the present circumstance to one that slows their travel up and down the TIB. Also, we must recognize that there are likely to be near future changes in management of highways simply from the clear impending increases in the costs of resources and labor.
