Dear Sir,
I apologize for not getting back to you more quickly on this matter I brought up to you at your front door about traffic, and the risks to the neighborhood, and the idea of a traffic light, which you kindly discussed with me.
What happened is I spent some time brainstorming on these matters, after what you told me regarding the price of a typical traffic light, and, after much time and dead-ending ideas, I became over-whelmed. I had hoped to get back to the matter quickly, but clearly the inability to conceive of some positive contributions left me daunted. I did not mean to let the matter languish, but, as I'm sure you've seen in pupils of your's at times, I was just unable to come up with something helpful to say.
That all being said, it does occur to me that the cheapest way to deal with these matters might be to change the speed limit from 30 down to 25 in our area, and to change it for the stretch before that to 35MPH. This will undoubtedly cost administrative matters, but not nearly as much in installation.
All other ideas I've come up with bite to the heart of things I've lived with my whole life. You see I have tried to avoid or reduce my use of motor vehicles for most of my adult life. This ethic goes back as far as the Carter Administration and the 70s dealings with that era of oil/gasoline shortages, but also matured in my senior year in high school, 1977, when I realize our societal habits of lugging one ton exoskeletons around to get places was a self-dooming over consumption on our energy bloom which most in our age do not even see as a matter at all, but simply accept as a natural permanent state of energy availabilit. Being aware of this bloom, limits to growth, and various naysayers from M. King Hubbert to Robert Newman is NOT popular, and I have, after a lifetime of trying to cultivate relationships and discussions of these matters have over and over again found myself pretty much alone and isolated from this interest, find it easy to just get daunted at any new episode. I am sorry I let this bad habit impose itself, from me, on you.
That all being said, I would be very happy to get together with you on this matter, and anything related, at your convenience, should you still be willing to spend the time.
Sincerely, Xeno Campanoli 206-369-3341
