Although The Magic Lamp is a Lebanese restaurant, you would not know it by all the flags of various nations that decorate the restaurant and the deli located in back. In fact, dishes are served from quite a few countries, and even though almost all the food is from the Mediterranean region, the cook and co-owner is from Vietnam.

Starting out as a deli, the restaurant side of the business is quite casual, with the emphasis on Ala Carte and To Go dishes rather than large platters. This is good because it encourages the sampling of a number of items, and the prices are such that your stomach will get full before your wallet gets empty.

Several platters are available with meat main dishes (all platters come with 2 side dishes and pita). I sampled the Baked Kibbe, made with ground top sirloin with cracked wheat, spices, and cinnamon. This was excellent, and had one of the best flavors of the various dishes I tried.

The Falafel was excellent and had a deep rich flavor that I seldom experience in this dish.

Menezaleh, an eggplant side dish, was very flavorful, primarily because of the garbanzo beans mixed in.

Some of the items were not as good as at other restaurants, including tabouli, hummus, and cabbage rolls. In fact, if you want these items I would say you should try Eddy's Steakhouse, where I think they are much better. For just about anything else, though, it would be hard to beat The Magic Lamp for flavor, freshness, and variety.
