China Olive's menu has little to distinguish it from a number of other Chinese restaurants in the city. It has several lunch specials, as well as the standard meat items with a few vegetable items. There are also the standard lunch and dinner buffets, something I try to avoid at all costs.

If there is anything that sets China Olive apart, though, it is the willingness of the staff to try to please the customer. I don't know how many items are not on the menu that the kitchen could prepare, but I asked for a Vegetable Noodle Soup that they made to my specifications. I can't say this was the greatest noodle soup I have ever eaten, but it suited my purpose and I enjoyed it.

Bean Curd Family Style is also absent from the menu, but they prepared a dish on my request that probably did not have the best sauce in the world, but the tofu was excellent. Overall I thought it was very good for something not normally prepared by the restaurant.

I tried the Hot and Sour Soup and enjoyed it--a large bowl of this could make a meal if you are not very hungry. The soup had more of a clear broth than the normal dark brown variety.

This restaurant does not serve some of the more "authentic" dishes that I like such as clay pot dishes or many of the items found at Grand House, but the food is not bad if you order from the menu.
