Sample Character --

Ilona of Clan Vancouver

Ilona is a young female of a clan based in British Columbia, northeast of the
Vancouver area. She is 48 years old and attractive, with yellow-green skin and dark
brown hair.
Ilona is of average strength, but is quick and clever and hardy. She has no mate and is
somewhat solitary, preferring the company of animals and her own interests to
spending time with others.
When she was little more than a hatchling, Ilona found several animals that had been
caught in illegal and inhumane traps. This caused her to develop a strong dislike for
cruel hunting methods, a dislike which has extended to include all forms of animal
cruelty. She gets along very well with animals; they trust and like her in return.
Ilona's other main passion is growing things. She can often be found in her little
garden, and has recently begun experimenting with bonsai after making the
acquaintance of an elderly Japanese man who also taught her a little of his language.
She is a regular visitor to area farms, secretly helping tend the crops and livestock.
Her green thumb and herbal remedies are well known to her clan.
She has a very strong "leap before you look" attitude, especially when she perceives
some injustice to animals. This has given her quite a few narrow escapes over the
year, ranging from nearly being shot by an irate farmer she caught mistreating his
horses to getting caught up in an animal rights demonstration-turned-violent.
Because she is so willful and feels so intensely about these issues, and worries too
much about things beyond her control (endangered species, the state of zoo and lab
animals), Ilona suffers from frequent migraine headaches that not even her medicines
can much help.
One of her favorite pastimes during hunting season is to seek out and disable snares
and traps, even the legal ones. She also enjoys finding camps of hunters and leading
them astray by mimicking animal sounds. More than once, these hunters have ended
up lost, and on a couple of occasions they've ended up hurt or dead; Ilona argues
often and bitterly with her clan leader that hunters set themselves apart from those
that the clan should protect.
She tries not to lecture her meat-eating clan members, seeking instead to lure them
around to vegetarianism by experimenting with cooking tempting meatless dishes.
Ilona wears an eagle's claw on a cord around her neck as a memory of her father, who
got it embedded in his arm when he was a foolish youngster trying to raid a nest. He
mended his ways and gave it to her as a reminder to always respect nature, a lesson
that shaped her life.

Got a mental image of Ilona? Okay, let's see how all of that translates into game
