     Right now this page is just a place holder.  I am trying to get an XMPP/Jabber server and web based chat client to work under WordPress.

     The idea is that you will either be able to originate a chat session on the web or using a XMPP/Jabber chat app on a mobile phone or XMPP/Jabber based chat application on your computer or the shell servers.

     Because so many configurations are path dependent, and because this is a trial and error situation, mostly errors, it was easier to put the paths into the menu so I can easily test.  Please be patient.  A general announcement will be made when it is working.

     Basically, I’m trying to do for instant messaging as we have done for mail.  Just as mail is accessible via the web, imap or pop-3 clients, and the shell servers, I’m trying to do something similar with instant messaging where it will be available via the web, XMPP/Jabber clients, and the shell servers.

Web Outage

     Today’s web outage or near outage (the server was there just in swap hell so not very responsive), was caused by an experimental virtual machine that is running rocky10 going apeshit and consuming all available CPU cycles and memory.

      It was an attempt to hack NIS into a Redhat based distro, but I think instead I am going to turn my attention towards implementing LDAP for user info distribution and Kerberos for authentication because they are both more secure and widely supported in modern operating systems and web applications.
